A new outdoor lighting system on Dumbarton Bridge could soon be available as a result of a local council campaign.
According to BBC news, West Dunbartonshire Council is currently seeking approval from Historic Scotland for a scheme that will implement outdoor lights on the historic bridge over the River Leven.
Speaking about the new lighting implementation, Councillor Patrick McGlinchey, said to BBC news:
"I am delighted that this historic bridge is going to be lit up in this way. It will look really spectacular when it is illuminated and will add more character to the area. We can see from the initial designs how the bridge could look and I'm now looking forward to seeing it introduced."
If successful, the new lighting system will be available in 2016. Originally built in 1765, Dumbarton Bridge was reconstructed in 1934.
